A UNIQUE LIVING MUSEUM, the magical Galapagos Islands are on nearly everyone's "must-visit" list. After arrival in Ecuador, we'll spend a full day touring the town of Quito. A short flight brings us to Baltra and our cruise ship, Galapagos Legend. Our exploration begins In Mosquera Islet. Island hop from Santiago Island (after a wet landing we explore extensive lava flows and have a chance to swim or snorkel the volcanic rock pools) to the dark red sand beaches of Rabida Island. We'll also spend a day on Isabela Island—a single land mass made from six ancient volcanoes—choose to either snorkel with the local sea turtles or visit the giant tortoises, and have a chance to see a blue-footed booby on a walking tour near Tagus Cove. On the last day of our cruise we'll visit Punta Espinosa on Isla Fernandina whose dramatic lava flows are home to marine iguanas and Vicente Roca Point and the Bolivar Channel where we might see dolphins and whales. We'll have some time on Santa Cruz Island to visit a giant tortoise reserve before our return to Quito and a visit to Otavalo to browse the market stalls.
